Christmas market in Stockholm's Old Town

Right now it's terribly dark outside, and you really have to make an effort to catch any of the day's light hours (at least when you work indoors during the day). We have visited this year's Christmas market in the Old Town, and at least it cheers up a bit in the dark with all the lighting and all the colourful stalls. Unfortunately, we have so far missed the neighbourhood's "living Christmas calendar", but if you're not familiar with the concept, we can tell you how it works.

Visit the Nobel Museum - the Nobel Laureates are here!

Yesterday we visited the Nobel Museum in Stockholm, together with some of the other members of the Swedish Association of Tourist Journalists. There is an exciting exhibition about Nobel Prize winners in literature who have used words to revolt and create change. We also got a lot of interesting information about the big event that starts today and lasts for a whole week - the Nobel Week.

Yesterday, I (Helena) visited Norrtälje, often referred to as the capital of Roslagen, on business. I work in the Stockholm County Council and since the county stretches from Södertälje in the south to Norrtälje in the north, there are sometimes longer journeys for meetings. After the meeting, the sun was shining in Norrtälje and I took a short walk along the Norrtälje river.

Seafood buffet at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm

Last Saturday we enjoyed a seafood buffet at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, together with Peter's son Robin, his wife Alexandra and their friends Robin and Elin. It has long been a "tradition" for us to visit the Grand's seafood buffet every other year or so, and some of the family always book a bunch of tickets for the following year.
